Danny Akin: SBC bloated but won’t burst

The Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) may be top heavy, bloated and unfocused but it is “premature” to write its obituary, according to Danny Akin, president of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Being called Obese is no surprise. I get called that every year at the convention when OS the Hawk gets up to tell us how to keep our health insurance from going up.

I am pushing chadwick to stand up make a motion to form a blue ribbon committee to investigate how many dead people, mormons, and pentecostals we have on our roles in the SBC. I say the committee should be made up of 12 members and they must report back to the SBC by 2059.
We have more members (27,000+) in our churches in Gaffney than we have in actual population. How can you grow a church where the whole town is saved??? HAHA

Pastorinthewoods,
The crime rate in Gaffney must be zero with all those Baptized Christ followers.

They must ship all those hoodlums in when the Spartanburg High School football teams come to play. As a chap in Sparkle City for 2 years, we would say, if nothing is going on during Saturday night, don’t worry, there is a knife fight in Gaffney. How compassionate those Christians are bringing those hoods into Gaffney to watch football, fight in honky tonks and hopefully get saved!!!

Greg,
I would advise you to stay away from Gaffney for your own personnal safety since you have slandered her. The politics run deep here and payback is hard. Football is a mere outward expression of the toughness of the entire community.
A friend of mine got me into the state playoff game when Gaffney played Dorman. He told me I could get in free with him but I had to sit on teh Dorman side. I wore a ski masked the whole night for fear of my life.
THEY NAME NAMES IN GAFFNEY!

I know brother. It is a very unique town and area. Many friends there…fortunately, I wasn’t praying for them as they lay bleeding in the ER from the said honky-tonk fight. I had a fellow chaplain at SRMC in 2001-03 who played for Dorman in the late 70’s and his son was attending there during our chaplaincy. The stories about what happens when Spartan High or Dorman goes to Gaffney are wild…makes the Longest Yard look like…vacation bible school.
After such revelations in my posts, I am surely glad I live out of state right now. Hopefully I can get a new name and SSN before returning to the Upstate. Maybe cosmetic surgery.
In Christ Alone,
Greg
